Looking Back, and Looking Ahead

Greetings! As I write this post, we are now officially past the midpoint of December. How is this possible? How are we less than two weeks away from Christmas? How is my newborn baby less than a month away from her first birthday?? Time definitely flies when you have kids, and I guess I’ve learned that it flies even faster when you have more than one.

Since after she was born, I have been telling all my inquiring clients that I’d be taking a break for the rest of the year, and at that time I would re-evaluate. And I guess we’re already creeping up on that one year mark, so I guess it’s time to let you all know what’s going on.

Here is where I currently stand: I LOVE being a mom/wife full time. I’ve never been a great multi-tasker. I hate not doing my very best at things, and to do that, I need to give 100% of myself to whatever it is I’m focusing on. So having the wonderful fortune to not HAVE to work this time around, has made me feel so much more “together” as a person. Because I’m not struggling to keep up with life (as much) as I would have been otherwise, I ultimately feel happier. I can cook healthy meals every day since I’m not out shooting during every sunset. I’m not rushing to edit a bunch of sessions while the dishes and laundry are left unattended. And I CAN leave them unattended to spend time cuddling my babies if I want, because I know I’ll still have enough time in the day to get to them. So for now.. my full time business will remain to be on hiatus.

With that being said, I still love and need photography in my life. If you’re friends with me on Facebook, or follow my business page, you know that I recently did some Holiday mini sessions. I had created this setup for my own kids, and loved it so much that I wanted to share it with my clients. I did a very limited amount of sessions, and I loved them in a way that I haven’t loved doing minis in a long time. Thank you so much to all of my loyal clients who came back for this! I appreciate every last one of you, along with everyone else who didn’t make it to these sessions, but who is still following along with me on my journey. You have all brought me to the place I am today, and I am grateful for you.

So I think what I’d like to do going forward is to continue to offer special stylized sessions only. That way I can continue to make the art that I want to make, and still get to see so many of your lovely faces. I might do some holidays, but I might have some other ideas too. I’ve been wanting to do a strawberry-themed fruit bath session with Spencer and I’d love to expand on that and open it up to more babies as well. I am open to other suggestions and would love to hear from you guys! Please send me any ideas you’d love to see, and if there’s enough interest, I just might be able to make it happen!

So to sum up, I’m not quite coming back just yet. But I won’t be totally gone, either. Definitely follow my facebook and instagram if you don’t already, as any updates and session announcements will be posted there. I’ll leave you all with some of my favorites from this year’s Milk & Cookie Mini Sessions. I wish you all a wonderful holiday season, and amazing new year in 2019. <3
