An Update

Well hello there, everyone. It's been a while! As most of you probably already know, I had a baby!  I've been a little busy, as she is now over two months old, and I am just finally getting around to posting this public announcement of her birth.

Spencer Glenn Witos was born January 13, 2018 at 6:54pm, 12 days before her due date. I know.. Spencer is more commonly known as a boy's name. But I'm a sucker for boyish names for girls, and I believe it suits her. Glenn is my dad's name. Without his support through our IVF journey, Spencer would probably not be here. (If you missed the IVF backstory, you can read about it here: Personal.) She is perfection. Our long-awaited rainbow baby.

Here is a little bit of Spencer over the last couple months:

At the hospital - two days old

My son got the flu as soon as Spencer was born. This was the first time I let him near her, fourteen days old.

I'm always taking pictures of her!

I am so grateful for their love.

So that's what's been going on around here. I've been getting an increasing number of inquiries lately as to when I will be back to work.  And the short answer is.. I don't know. Here's the long answer: When I was pregnant with my son, I worked in an office. I assumed after he was born, I'd be fine to go right back to work. I asked my boss for 12 weeks of leave, and he agreed. But because I ended up on bedrest 6 weeks before he was born, he was only 6 weeks old when I had to go back to work. I hated it, and I cried every day. I wasn't ready. So it was then that I promised myself that next time, I wouldn't do anything until I was truly ready. And right now, I know I'm still not ready. I also feel that my photography income is not substantial enough to justify the cost of childcare, at least when she is this young. So for now, I plan to stay home and re-evaluate when she gets a little older.

However; although I am not currently accepting any new bookings, I AM still honoring all of my grow-with-me commitments. Which means that my last couple months have also been filled with cake smash sessions, from the babies I photographed as newborns last year. Here is a little taste of the fun I've still been having:

If you've sent me any messages in the last couple months, I thank you for your patience as I know I haven't always been quick to reply. I also appreciate all the congratulatory messages, love, and support.  That's all for now.
